Yarn for Sale

We now have both handspun and commercially spun yarn for sale at Schoonover Farm!   They are listed below, and you can click on the photos for enlargements.  For more information contact me at donnawh@earthlink.net

The first yarn is from 7 of our brown Shetland sheep. The sheep are Daphnie, Hansel, Huey, Jemima, Miss Lizzie, Lou and Shaun. These sheep have been well taken care of by us to ensure healthy and clean fleeces. They were carefully sheared, and their fleeces dried. I then skirted the fleeces and selected the best ones to include in this yarn. The 7 fleeces were then sent to Stonehedge Fiber Mill and were processed and spun into 2 ply sport weight yarn. The resulting yarn is soft but durable and would be well suited for knitting.  It is $9 per 250 yard/~3.5 ounce skein.

The next yarn is from 5 of our grey Shetland sheep. The sheep are Dixie, Jenny, Monette, Reuben and Rhett. These sheep have been well taken care of by us to ensure healthy and clean fleeces. They were carefully sheared, and their fleeces dried. I then skirted the fleeces and selected the best ones to include in this yarn. The 5 fleeces were then sent to Stonehedge Fiber Mill and were processed and spun into 2 ply sport weight yarn. The resulting yarn is soft but durable and would be well suited for knitting.  It is $9 per 250 yard/~3 ounce skein.

Above is a skein of Gotland-Finn 3 ply fingering yarn.  It was processed and spun by Stonehedge Fiber Mill in Michigan but is from our sheep Moll and Tanya.  It is 250 yards and weighs ~3 ounces.  It is available for $9 per skein.  Below is a closer view of the yarn.

Above is a skein of CVM 2 ply fingering yarn also spun by Stonehedge.  This is from our CVM ewe we call Mutiny (because of her attitude).  She has gorgeous variegated fine crimpy wool which is brown in color.  Each skein is 250 yards and weighs ~ 1 ounce.  It is available for $9 per skein.  Below is a close up of the yarn.

Above is a skein of 2 ply fingering weight yarn from our California Red wether Jethro.  His wool has a unique color.  The skeins are 250 yards and weigh ~ 2 ounces.  They were also prepared by Stonehedge Mill.  These skeins are available for $9 each.  Below is a closer view.

Next are the handspun yarns available.  First is dark brown, CVM cross yarn handspun by Fran.  It is light worsted weight and is about 2 ounces.  It is available for $12.
