For an early Christmas present Tom bought us a new shell for our hot tub. Our old one lasted over 10 years, but it had sunk into the soil where the moisture rotted the cedar boards. He cut the old one in half and we are hoping to making planters with them. Here’s the old hot tub disassembled:
He also bought a cement mixer to help make a pad for the new tub so it will last longer. He got this in a deal orchestrated by his Uncle Gene:
Pretty fancy huh? As long as it does the job, I am happy.
This next photo I just thought was cute. This is one of our black lambs, Abbey, insisting on eating the hay under the feeder rather than the hay in the feeder, and in the process getting hay bits all over herself. Gotta love those Shetland lambs!
INJURIES/ILLNESS UPDATES:
So Vanessa had a set back last week when she was out on a brief walk/potty break. Mopar, our large German shepherd, Lab, Beagle, Border Collie and Rottweiler mix dog, decided to play with her and jumped on her hind end. Vanessa’s been limping really bad since. But at her rehab appointment yesterday (yes, she is going to doggie rehab), they said they did not think any harm was done, and she is progressing nicely.
I am not progressing so nicely. The numbness and pain in my legs and feet is worsening and almost constant despite almost 2 months of “conservative” treatment. I have an appointment with a neurosurgeon Friday. Plus the day before Thanksgiving I started shaking badly. I am now diagnosed with Essential Tremor. This is a progressive neurologic disorder that causes tremors, commonly in the arms and head/neck but can occur other places. For now I have stopped drinking coffee (which is very difficult), am eating more regularly and am trying to avoid stress and fatigue. At some point I will likely need to start medication, which have potential unpleasant side effects.
Looks like I need to keep praying for you. Faith can move mountains!
How did you get the snowflakes to fall on your page – not that I want or need to see any more snow.

Thanks so much for your prayers. I signed up for the snowflake feature on wordpress.com one year ago, they disappeared after a while and now are back! And it is the back half of a lamb. Kind of gory if you did not know the front half is pigging out.
I think the lamb is cute–looks like some of my goats with butts stuck up. So sorry to hear you have more health issues. You certainly have our thoughts and prayers as well.

This time of year you really need a hot tub. Or at least we do! The only bad thing is so often it’s raining, and we don’t have any sort of canopy or anything over ours….
I sure hope the neurosurgeon has some positive news for you on Friday. Will keep a good thought.

Am I remembering that you have a disk problem? Have they thought about operating to fix that? Would that fix your problems?
I am not sure about worrying about essential tremor. I was told a couple of years ago by a neurologist that I had that, and he showed me how he had it mildly himself when he held his hands out. He said it was common to develop that to some degree as one got older.
However, mine lessened considerably as time went on, no meds, no apparent reason. I don’t even notice it now, and back then I couldn’t hold a telephone for more than a few minutes without my arm shaking badly.

I have a severe degenerative disc but no bulging or nerve involvement at the disc where my symptoms are coming from. So one question for the neurosurgeon is are the symptoms I have from my disc or not? If they are, it seems like surgery may not be as helpful as for a person with a bulging disc, but that is what I need to find out. It seems like I might be heading for a steroid injection first though. All things I will hopefully find out Friday.
As far as my tremor goes, my father and grandmother were diagnosed with the same thing, and theirs progressed over time, so I am expecting myself to follow their pattern since I inherited it from them. But I really hope mine does what yours did!
Hate to hear that you are going through all this. I hope that they can tell you something more definitive at your appointment. That has to be so frustrating, not to mention the pain and restriction. Also hope that Vanessa will be fine with no set backs. Those silly lambs…they are so determined to mess up their fleeces!
