Sorry but this has been a bloggable day for me. I was upstairs starting to tackle a year’s worth of sewing repairs when I noticed sheep running through our back yard. I ran downstairs, grabbed a coat and clogs and this is what I found:
Bad sheep in the front yard! I think they know they are caught. Next they bolt toward the back yard:
But stop to say “Hi!” to the goats and llama on the correct side of the fence:
Rather than head into the back yard, they decide to shoot across the front yard and head around the far side of the garage:
They head back behind the garage and pumphouse:
And back into the barn through the “man door” that apparently Tom had not latched shut earlier.
Back in the barn again:
And on the correct side of the fence (looking somewhat innocent):
There are a lot of things that went right with this little escapade. I was home and by a south-facing window to notice their great escape. There were only two dogs outside, and the beagle was hiding from the cold and missed the whole thing. Plus we found new homes for our two goat killing dogs. And there is not much foliage that the sheep can destroy this time of year. But we obviously need to be really careful with our new man door to the barn we installed with our barn wall remodel last summer. And we should install a backup lock for it.
Maybe I can get back to sewing now?

Often times I think, only a blogger would be taking photos during this. Maybe I should have taken photos of the brake fluid leak under my car yesterday 🙂
I have learned to carry my camera with me. Otherwise I would not have taken the cool Goat shot earlier in the day. I think the out of focus shots indicate teh intesity of the chase. It is funn though how my thinking has changed. I start composing blog posts in my head quite a bit now, never used to.
Glad no one was hurt in the ruckus! We have a few escapists in our flock too 🙂
No one is the worse for wear (excpet a few crabapple branches). It is ununsual for us to have the whole flock escape. I think it’s a first, in fact.
At least they knew where to go back to. Maybe they were trying to get you back up into the loft, or didn’t want the goats to get more blog time than the sheep?
Maybe they did want to show they could be just as ornery as the goats. Well, they can! And they knew exactly where they came from too.
Silly sheep.
