Farm Plan

For those of you following our ongoing saga with the Washington State Department of Ecology (see Government, OK, Now I am POed,  What I Have Been Up To, Backyard and Farmyard Projects,  Fencing and Wooly SheepSo just when I think I know what I am doing…., More Spring Surprises, Shaun the Sheep and Llama Packing, The End of Lambing (Second Time Around), Back to the Farm), we received our farm plan yesterday from Skagit Conservation District.  I feel like a large boulder has been lifted off of my shoulders.  It says the we are already managing our property in a way that does protect water quality and that the distance between our fence and the ditch should be adequate to provide filter strip to trap sediment and bacteria.  So this means we do not have to endanger our animals any further because of the recommendations of the DOE, we do not have to give any more of our money to a land use attorney, and they (DOE) have NO reason to be trespassing on our property.  It only took 13 months but hopefully this saga is over!
