A Paintin’ Fool

As I mentioned in an earlier blog post, I have been painting the outbuildings.  It has turned into somewhat of a frenzy.  I am not sure why.  Maybe because I have an innate sense that this is going to be a hard winter.  Or maybe after 43 years of living in the wet areas of the Pacific Northwest, I have come to realize that incessant rain is hard on buildings.  In fact, last night I finally appreciated that the reason I enjoy the weathered buildings in areas like the Okanogan County and Waterville is because there are not any here.  Any building that is not maintained here rapidly rots into the ground.  So I am fighting the battle against rain rot:

Congrats on your 500th post! Love all your colorful painting – and how exciting to be in the NY Times! Oh, and pie cherries are my favorite too. I envy you your beautiful jars of canned ones. T.

Good on you, getting all those things painted. I really need to redo our pumphouse. I think about it every time I walk past, but still haven’t gotten around to doing it!

I have painting I should be doing too. I must say, most of mine are weathered/tin-covered. Congrats on the 500th post!
