I am preserving excess veggies. We had some lemon cucumbers that did not sell in our produce stand so I wanted to figure out a way to save them since I cannot eat that many fresh cucumbers in a short time. So I found a recipe for fermented spicy lemon cucumber pickles, and here they are.
Today we pressed the crabapples and some desert apples. We used our press made by Cider Bob and got 15 gallons of juice.
We often choose a stormy day to press apples, but today was a doozy. There were huge winds, and I kept thinking a tree would fall on us on the porch. But we survived it. Here’s the backyard afterwards:
