We had a short and somewhat hectic trip to Oregon this weekend. We drove to Eugene on Friday, getting there late because of Seattle, Tacoma and Portland traffic. Saturday morning I visited the BSG. I visited the new vendor area where they have a larger space for vendors and spinners. I saw a great wheel demonstration and saw this one in one of the spinning circles. Below is some detail on this gorgeous wheel.
I found the wool show just as the Shetland fleece judging was finishing up and congratulated John on winning third in the class with Vanessa’s fleece! I visited the animal barns and visited with some fellow shepherds there. I revisited the vendor area and made some purchases.
Then Tom picked me up after he visited the Eugene Saturday Market, and we headed to Portland for the Cider Fest. There was plenty of cider, both good and not-so-good. It was hot and sunny so we found some shade to sip our cider in.
We headed back to Eugene, and Sunday morning I took a class from Judith MacKenzie on spinning Shetland wool. I experimented with spinning techniques I do not usually use and produced this array of experimental yarns.
We then drove home and made it in time to pick up the dogs from their kennel. All and all a good but fast trip. Here’s my loot:
