2711 Lilac

2711 lilac

So this lilac originally came from the house my grandfather grew up in at 2711 West Chestnut in Yakima.  A cutting was taken from it, and it grew at my grandparents house and then a cutting from that was brought to our home.  I am not sure if it is still genetically the same plant, but it sure is pretty and smells wonderful.  I cannot tell from this photo where the lilac plant was at its original home.

  1. I love carrying bloom from other places especially homeplaces of my family!

That’s awesome! I love that history. I can almost smell it from here. My grandparents had lilacs outside their kitchen windows; when I smell lilacs, I’m transported almost 50 years back to Westfield, Massachusetts. Wonderful memories.

I planted one here 8 years ago; it’s never bloomed until this year. It had one bunch of flowers. Boo.
